MERD, India cordially invites you to a symposium on Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEMs): Teamwork Needed. The symposium will help raise awareness about IEMs and the importance of a newborn screening (NBS) program. NBS is a test done 24 hours after a baby is born to identify certain serious but treatable metabolic disorders the baby might be born with. These disorders although rare, can potentially cause mental retardation, physical disabilities and even death, if not diagnosed and treated early.
