In an effort to make rare diseases diagnosable and curable an initiative Organisation for Rare Diseases India(ORDI) was lanuched by a group of eminent health care leaders, NGO,S doctors and government bodies in Delhi.

Addressing the media person Dr. Vijay Chandru founder member ORDI said, “There is a genetic origin for least 80 percent of rare diseases and in 50 percent of cases the onset

occurs in childhood.Through ORDI we will try to empower rare diseases patients and their families in India with access to national and international resources and help improve their quality of life.”

Due to the inadequate infrastructure or the lack of awareness at various stack holder levels, rare disease management is growing into a major health concern in India.

Our Executive Director Mr. Prasanna Shirol was a part of First Ever summit dedicated to advancing equitable care for rare diseases in older adults. The meeting was attended from 25 countries across Canada, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, representing patient and caregiver communities, patient advocates, healthcare professionals, and healthcare policy experts.
